Description
Infrastructure development is a key element to economic development in Africa. An effective infrastructure system facilitates regional development by enabling the free flow of goods and services. Most of Kenya's expenditure on infrastructure is focused on road networks, energy and power systems as well as water and sanitation infrastructure. The funding of major infrastructure development projects is currently financed by both government and donor organisations. In 2010 Kenya's treasury department was a major source of funding and allocated $584.9 for infrastructure development projects in the roads, energy and water sectors. Major construction activities are anticipated to continue a cross all sectors between 2010 and 2018.
