This research service analyses current economic conditions and its influence on the Brazilian Chemicals Materials and Foods (CMF) industry. The Brazilian Government has implemented several measures in recent years aimed at improving the growth of the manufacturing sector and chemicals and materials industry. Since the implementation of the 'Real Plan', the food and beverages industry has been growing due to the increase in the purchasing power of the people and stable economic conditions. Brazilian economic and CMF industry trends have been analyzed for the period 2001-2006 and forecasts are given for the period 2007-2010.
