Description

This issue of Oil and Gas Technology Opportunity Engine (TOE) covers development of wave energy to power systems in sub-sea oil & gas facilities, the operations of fully functional prototypes based on combined ocean hybrid platforms to power off-shore oil & gas fields, and the installation of integrated energy systems that enables efficient green hydrogen production. The TOE also features information on the use of ground breaking in-situ combustion techniques for extraction of highly pure hydrogen from used oil reservoirs. The TOE focuses on innovations associated with the development of modular floating photovoltaic systems for renewable power generation that can be used by off-shore oil & gas platforms, and the use of geological formations and depleted gas reservoirs for seasonal hydrogen storage to accelerate smooth transition to low carbon energy. The TOE additionally provides insights on the use of nano-engineered cement for sealing leaks and cracks in old natural gas wells, use of mobile sensing techniques for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, and the latest trends in the use of gas to liquid technology for the synthesis of various specialty hydrocarbon fuels.

The Oil and Gas TOE provides intelligence on innovations pertaining to technologies, products, and processes, along with strategic insights, in the upstream and downstream processes in the oil and gas industry.

The Energy and Utilities cluster provides global insights and intelligence on a wide variety of disruptive emerging technologies and platforms ranging from energy storage, advanced batteries, solar and wind energy, to unconventional oil, bioenergy, geothermal energy, and energy transmission.

Keywords: Wave energy, green hydrogen, hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogen transportation, seawater electrolysis, liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC), floating photovoltaic systems, nano-engineered cement, zeolite catalysts, gas-to-liquid technology, graphite nano-platelets, artificial intelligence
