Description

Nanomembranes are ultrathin membranes made of nanomaterials. They are used in different applications with different approaches. In the healthcare industry, nanomembranes are used in extraction of amino acids and lipids from blood cells, whereas in the electronics industry, they are used to manufacture biosensors. Technological advancements and broader initiatives in R&D have enabled improved nanomembrane technologies. Rising concerns regarding global warming and cost-effective sanitation facilities in developing countries will also fuel the growth of nanomembranes in the next few years.

The Nanotech TechVision Opportunity Engine (TOE) provides intelligence on technologies, products, processes, applications, and strategic insights on nanotechnology-related innovations and their impact across various industries. Technology focus areas include nanomaterials, nanocoatings, nanohealthcare, nanomedicine, and nanomanufacturing.

The need for low power, smaller, lighter sensors with enhanced performance attributes and minimal false alarms is driving innovations in the sensors space. The Sensors and Control cluster covers innovations pertaining to technologies such as wireless sensors and networks, energy harvesting, haptics and touch, MEMS and nanosensors, Terahertz, ubiquitous/smart sensors, CBRNE, quantified-self, sensor fusion, M2M communications, and drones.

Keywords: Nanomembranes, nanofiltration, silicon-on-insulator, graphene membranes
